KEI KECIL: THE SOON-TO-BE WORLD'S LARGEST SEAWEEDS PRODUCTION BASE!
Ambon, July 5, 2010. Our Marine Industries Team has set foot in Kei Islands and have established over 40 community-based industry cluster groups there.
Today, we have witnessed the amazing growth of seaweeds like never before. The production level exceeded our expectations. Our past experiences in Ambon and its surroundings can not match the results we are experiencing in Kei Islands area. Simply put: we are astonished!
From productivity level perspective, the people at Kei Islands are much more productive than the people at Central Maluku region (including Ambon and its surroundings). Local wisdom & culture plays key role to the consistent level of productivity.
For many years Kei is labelled as underdeveloped. Today, they have broken all these labels and have set foot to be an economic giant in Eastern Indonesia.
Nonetheless, many aspects of both economic & social development need to be properly planned and managed. An integrated plan that accommodate & integrate community-based economic development programs such as ours should be the local government first priority. Not because we are running such program but because Kei communities have proved to be the most potential drivers for sustainable economic development. Read more ...
FAMILY GATHERING: ADVANCE MALUKU DAY OFF TRIP TO POMBO ISLAND

ADVANCE MALUKU IS EXPANDING & GROWING
ADVANCE MALUKU has been transformed into a fully commercial entity, with five subsidiaries that are operating under one corporation, PT ADVANCE MALUKU. At the same time we have new strategic partners that have integrated themselves into our organization. These have resulted in a stronger and more vibrant organization that is ready to tackle bigger business challenges.
1st Phase Seaweeds Production Shows
Promising Future
The
NEW GOSEPA has shown promising results in seaweeds production. The first 30-day
seaweeds aquaculture produce high-growth results, above standard national
average.
The current daily growth rate achieved (30-day) is ~ 7%. It is estimated that in
45-day each 100gram seaweed seed planted will grow up to 2.9 kg.
The NEGERI MANDIRI Program is still at its infancy. It still requires additional substantial time & effort to develop it into a sizeable industry that is able to penetrate the target market & build the needed sustainable presence.
It takes a lot of guts & commitment to make this initiative a successful one. Such commitment ideally should come from various development stakeholders within the province/ region where the program is implemented. In Maluku, we are yet to see the full commitment from each of the relevant stakeholders. It will be a long & exhaustive journey. At Advance Maluku, we are here to stay & continue with our effort to make the necessary changes needed to transform the poor communities into economically independent communities.
World's First Aquaculture
Multi-Purpose Production Platform "GOSEPA"
Advance
Maluku has produced the World's First
Aquaculture Multi-Purpose Production
Platform called GOSEPA. This unit will be used primarily in seaweeds aquaculture. Each GOSEPA is
able to produce approximately 20-30 Ton of dried seaweeds every 45 day.
Simultaneously, the unit is also used for Abalone production as well as fish
aquaculture. The main objective of having GOSEPA is to accelerate our program to
develop mid-income families in Maluku. With an average selling price of Rp. 10
million per ton of dried seaweeds, each community-based business groups that
will be utilizing GOSEPA will be able to generate at least Rp. 200 million
rupiah of revenue every 45 days. More GOSEPA pictures may be seen at:

"NEGERI MANDIRI" Program (http://www.negerimandiri.info)
"NEGERI
MANDIRI MALUKU" - NMM (Self-Sufficient
Villages of Maluku) Program has started.
To date, over 400 community-based groups have been identified. Over half of them have gone through Induction Training Program conducted at our office in Ambon.
These groups come from various villages across Ambon Island, Western Seram, Lease Islands and Buru Island. From universities, non-governmental organizations, faith-based organizations and youth organizations, all take part in the training program.
The NMM Program is aimed to improve the economic & social conditions of the
under-developed communities across Maluku Province through the development of
community-based industries on mass scale. These industries are very much relying
on locally available commodities that may be produced and/ or processed into
finished products for global market consumption.
To date, there are over 6 different potential industries that have been selected
as the primary movers of Maluku's economy. As the Pilot Project, we have
selected Seaweeds as the initial commodity to be used in developing the
integrated industries needed to form a globally competitive Industry Cluster.
